ANNI GOSSEN (FRIESEN)

ANNI GOSSEN (nee FRIESEN) 1928 - 2010 Suddenly at her residence on July 5, 2010 Anni passed away at the age of 82 years. Left to mourn her passing are her children, Karl (Sharon), Arthur (Laurie), Marianne (Allan), Giesela (Robin), Margaret, sister-in-law Tina Friesen, eight grandchildren, four great-grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. Anni was predeceased by her husband Abram Gossen, parents Anna and Peter Friesen, her sister Elsa Friesen and brothers Peter and Arthur Friesen. Having lived through the difficult war years Anni, together with her mother and brother Peter immigrated to Canada in 1949 to start a new life. They were reunited with her sister who arrived a year earlier. She married Abram in 1954 and together they raised their five children in the City's West End. In her retirement years Mom enjoyed gardening, visits from her grandchildren, great- grandchildren and the continued relationships with her lifelong friends. She remained very independent and active; still volunteering at the MCC Thrift store, and to various church groups. Anni lived her life guided by her Christian faith and undying love and devotion to her family and friends. Her greatest moments of joy came as the result of seeing happiness in those close to her. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Street, with Pastor Franz Wiebe officiating. Viewing will take place one-half hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
