VALERIE MERLE MCDOUGALL October 29, 1933 - July 8, 2010 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Val McDougall. She is survived by her husband Dave of 59 years and her brothers, Donald Smith, and Bernt (Margaret) Smith and sister-in-law Nat Smith. Also to cherish her memory are nieces and nephews Pamela and Jan Carritt, David Smith, Jeffrey (Lorie) Smith of Arizona. Nicole and Roy Ferris and Paul Smith of Alberta and Tom (Karen) McDougall and Jim McDougall of Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents Neil and Elsie Smith and her brother Darrel and sister-in law Noreen Smith. Valerie was born to Neil and Elsie Smith on October 29, 1933 in Oakburn, Manitoba. At an early age she had to face many challenges in her life always with strength and determination. She always did what had to be done. She was a favourite aunt to many many children. Always a very willing babysitter or housekeeper. Val was always there for her friends and family. She was a determined woman, who enjoyed the simple things in life, her home, fishing, gardening, painting and collecting stones from various places. She enjoyed heading out in her car for a drive, often taking the road less travelled; stopping to fish or catch a flea market or antique shop. Thanks to brother Don who came from Calgary and sister-in-law Margaret Smith from Clareholm, Alberta who came to help her in times of need. Also special thanks to friends Carol McGrath for her help during the move from Anola to Winnipeg. Doreen Skillen for keeping us well fed while recouping from surgery. Respecting Val's wishes immediate cremation has taken place and no service will be held. The Road to Eternity Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what's to be, A resting place along a road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys; different paths along the way, we all were meant to learn some things, But never meant to stay. . . Our destination is a place far greater than we know. For some the journeys quicker for some the journeys slow. And when the journey finally ends, we'll claim a great reward, and find an everlasting peace. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
