JOHANNA GUDRUN GORSLINE (nee MARKUSSON / OLSON) On July 12, 2010, in her 92nd year, peacefully at Meadowood Manor in Winnipeg. Johanna will be forever loved and missed by her three children, Lynn MacDonell (Doug), Bill Olson (Leslie) and Mark Olson (Debbie); 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her second husband Howard Gorsline and her first husband Oli Olson. Mom was born in a farmhouse close to Arnes, Manitoba, March 7, 1919 and raised in nearby Gimli. She was extremely proud of her Icelandic heritage and loved spending summers at Gimli and Sandy Hook and attending the Islendingadagurinn. She would say at any opportunity I'm Icelandic you know . Mom was very comfortable with her spirituality and enjoyed her many years in the choir at Norwood United. In her time at Meadowood Manor she really appreciated the Sunday services and her relationship with Chaplain David Holland. Mom devoted her life to the well being and interests of her children, grandchildren and extended family. Nothing brought her greater pleasure than sharing in all their activities and achievements. Our friends were her friends and she was Joan to them all. She loved entertaining at 125 Chataway, and lived for special occasions like Christmas. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to the staff at The Meadowood Manor who went beyond the call of duty especially in Mom's final hours to ensure her comfort and dignity. The family is holding a private service. Flowers and donations are gratefully declined.
