GERARD J. CHAMPAGNE November 13, 1921 - July 12, 2010 Peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre, on Monday, July 12, 2010 Gérard Champagne passed away at the age of 88 years. He leaves to mourn his wife of 65 years Eveline (nee Blanchette); his daughters Suzanne (Luigi) and Lucille (Richard); his grandchildren Stephanie (Barry) and Leandra; and his great-grandchildren Hayley and Kieran. Gérard is also survived by one sister Claudette and four brothers Albert (Shirley), Rodolphe (Shirley), Guy (Carol), and Marcel (Lena) as well as numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Jeanne (nee Girard), six sisters and five brothers. Gérard was born and raised in Ste-Anne-des-Chênes, Manitoba, moving to Winnipeg in 1942. He was employed with CNR for 38 years, retiring in 1981. He was a faithful member of his parish community offering his services as an usher for many years. Gérard enjoyed looking after his home and garden. Pépère took great delight in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Balko and the staff at Riverview for their compassion and care shown towards Dad. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 16, at the St. Boniface Cathedral with viewing at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment to follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery.
