ANTONIO (TONY) LISI August 25, 1925 - July 13, 2010 Peacefully with his wife and children by his side, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing our beloved husband and father, Antonio (Tony) Lisi on July 13, at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 84 years. He will be forever missed and remembered by his loving wife Rosa of 36 years, daughter Carmela (Miguel), son Carmine (Carmelle) and grandchildren Gabriela and Diego. Also left to mourn his passing are brother Edmondo (Loretta), sister Ines, and extended family members. Tony was predeceased by his parents Carmine and Carmela, sisters Eglantina and Concettina, and brothers Luigi and Elvio. Tony was born in Mignano Monte Lungo, Italy. He spent the greater part of his teenage years amidst the chaos of the Second World War. The family was forced to abandon their home and seek shelter in a cave for several long months, where they survived the attacks. After years of rebuilding, Tony left a successful professional career and boarded a ship to Eastern Canada in 1955. He journeyed west, where he joined brothers Luigi and Edmondo in Winnipeg. Tony worked and retired from Labatt Breweries. Along the journey, he met his wife, Rosa and settled in the Westwood suburb and raised their two children. Tony loved the outdoors. He spent much of his recreational time driving throughout Manitoba where he would fish, hunt and picnic. Tony also enjoyed gardening, making wine, and was an avid horse race watcher. In the summer of 1999, an important creature entered his life - a puppy by the name of Reilly, who Tony came to love and cherish. He never knew his love for dogs until that point and continued forward to this day with that admiration - seen in his continued love and affection for grand-dogs Winston and Stella. You touched the lives of so many around you. Your continued support and love have helped put structure and shape to our lives forever, which we will never forget. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Father Sam Argenziano Celebrant. Entombment in Assumption Cemetery, Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. The family would like to extend their thanks to the team in the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital. In keeping with Tony's love for animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
