WALTER G. MOYER 1917 - 2010 The family announces the passing of Walter Moyer on July 14, 2010 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 92. Walter is survived by his loving wife Ruth, and his sister Ruth of Winnipegosis, MB. Also left to cherish Walter's memory are many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Jennie, three brothers and five sisters. As a young boy, Walter shared the work on the family farm. Walter enlisted in the army in 1942, serving with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. As Sergeant, he led a platoon of 120 men into battle on D Day plus 13. Following the war, Walter was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Walter and Ruth married in 1949 and enjoyed a loving relationship of 61 years. Walter enjoyed long walks, reading, writing poetry and the challenge of crosswords and other puzzles. After his retirement in 1976, Walter and Ruth shared many trips abroad, and this brought them much joy in their later years. In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Walter's generous support of the community, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home with interment to follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
