MARGARET HAZEL LEWIS Hazel passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Concordia Hospital. Hazel was born on the family farm at High Bluff, Manitoba on November 24, 1924. Hazel was the youngest child of Guy and Hazel Brock. Hazel is survived by her son Jim, sister Jane Kay, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Art, parents, and brothers Stan and Clarence. Hazel was a lifelong animal lover from her farm upbringing and riding a horse to school through to her pet cats and giving treats to the neighbourhood dogs. She actively took part in sports in her younger years, eventually settling on curling. For the past few years Hazel's participation was confined to watch curling, figure skating, and golf on television. Her fulltime working career started at an early age at The Bank of Toronto in Swan River, Manitoba. Hazel eventually transferred to the bank's Transcona branch. Her fulltime working career ended with Dominion Lumber and Fuel. For many years the Lewis family had cottage on Florence Lake at Winnitoba. Many lasting friendships were made. Church was important to Hazel. She was a member of Transcona Memorial United Church and it's U.C.W. Thank you to Dr. D. Caners, Dr. P. Harris, Concordia Hospital and their staff for their help over the years. Respecting Hazel's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Transcona Memorial United Church or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
