IRENE MOSSOP Peacefully, at Grace Hospital on Monday, July 19, 2010, Irene (nee Martin) died in her 91st year. Irene is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Clement; her three daughters, Dianna Scarth, Valerie Wiebe (Robert) and Louise McMurray (Keith). She was a proud and devoted grandma to Tim and Todd Scarth (Esyllt Jones), Dana and Riley McMurray and a loving great-grandma to Owen Scarth-Jones and Dylan Jones-Drewniak. Irene will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Irene was born in the family home on Linden Avenue, to Reginald and Violet Martin. She grew up with sisters, Muriel and Verna and brothers Bob and Harold, who have all predeceased her. Irene met Clem at Manitoba Commercial College in business class. She and Clem married in 1943 and moved to another home on Linden Avenue where they raised their family. Irene was an amazing mother who supported her children and encouraged them to follow their dreams. She had close bonds with all of her grandchildren who enjoyed her quick wit and unconditional love. Irene created happy memories for her family at Victoria Beach where she spent many hours in her garden, golfing, playing cards with her family, drawing and painting and hosting dinners for family and friends. Irene lived her life with grace and dignity, which she managed to maintain, despite the challenge of dealing with Alzheimer's in her latter years. The family would like to thank the staff at West Park Manor and the staff at the Grace Hospital (third floor and emergency ward) for caring for Irene in a dignified and respectful manner and for their sensitive support of our family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Friends of the Conservatory or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. A celebration of Irene's life will be held at The Conservatory in Assiniboine Park on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. The light of God surrounds me. The love of God enfolds me.
