DAVID KORMAN On Wednesday, July 14, 2010 David Korman passed away nearly two weeks after entering Concordia Hospital. Predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Korman (Schneider) and survived by his two sons Jeff and Steve (Debbie Milani). One of five sons to Morris and Sarah Korman, David was born in Poland in 1925 and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1936. He worked in the family business as Secretary Treasurer for Beaver Headwear, a cap and hat manufacturer. In 1950 while attending a wedding in Chicago, David met his wife to be, Dorothy (Schneider). Later that same year they wed at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Of his many travels his favourite destination was Hawaii. For over 25 years and he and Dorothy vacationed in Waikiki. He took pride at achieving THE TAN which prompted frequent questions as to his country of origin. Although he rarely expressed his emotions, David was proud of his sons and like Dorothy, took great joy in welcoming his only grandson Alex (Jeff) and daughter-in-law Debbie (Steve). On September 5, 2002, Dorothy passed away leaving David with great sorrow and emptiness to the day of his own passing. Despite numerous hospital admissions, David remained undeterred; he never slowed down and made it a point to take the bus to the North End to see his pals each week. David in the truest sense of the word was a Mensch. David is sadly missed and will be remembered fondly by his many friends and family. Gravesite services were held July 16 at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. The family thanks the staff at the Concordia Hospital, 2nd floor East and the I.C.U. for their compassion and care. For those who desire, memoriams may be made in memory of David to the Concordia Hospital Foundation or to a charity of one's choice.
