RICHARD WILLIAM FLATT September 21, 1939 - July 16, 2010 After a courageous 12 year battle with cancer, it is with great sadness we announce his passing at the St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Ward on Friday, July 16, 2010. Richard was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Patricia; daughter Rosemary; son James, and brother at infancy. He is survived by daughter Terri; daughter-in-law Sherry; brother Ronald (Beverly); granddaughter Jade; nieces and nephews, cousins and special friend Bonnie. In 1959 Richard met Patricia Rafferty who became his wife in 1960. Spending their time in Winnipeg, daughter Rosemary was born in 1961, son James was adopted in 1965 and daughter Terri was adopted in 1967. Richard will be remembered for his positive attitude, sense of humour and his kind heart even through trying times. He will be greatly missed by all. Memorial services celebrating Richard's life to be at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Gimli Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Gimli Lutheran Church, Box 118, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. Heartfelt thanks are extended to all doctors, nurses and staff who attended to Richard at CancerCare Manitoba, Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Centre, and all nurses and attendants, which provided services while under palliative home care.
