BORIS (BOB) MIRECKI 1923 - 2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Boris at Selkirk General Hospital on Friday, July 23, 2010. Boris leaves to mourn the love of his life, Emily (Minnie) of 63 years; son Robert (Heather), daughters Connie (Don) and Cindy (Keith); grandson Jeff (Rhonda); grand-daughter Natasha; great-grandson Jordan; niece Pat, for whom he had a special place in his heart, along with numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. Boris was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Pauline Mirecki, sisters Olga and Anne; brothers Bill and Edward and leaves his brother Russ by whom he is survived. Dad was born in Rossdale in 1923 where he initially worked on the family farm. By 1947 he married the love of his life and began raising his family in Winnipeg. Dad worked at the CNR for some years and then went into business for himself buying and selling real estate. He was a jack-of-all-trades, a great improviser and prided himself on a job well done. He was always busy but never too busy for his family. He installed in us the value of family traditions such as the annual Christmas Eve fish fry or the making of the sauerkraut. He was a one of a kind person who touched the lives and hearts of all who knew him. One of the great joys of his life, second only to his family, was his love of music and the violin. At age 65 he retired and took up the fiddle which was the beginning of another chapter. This resulted in numerous performances with his musical buddies at numerous halls, banquets, anniversaries and weddings. Dad's music was a great joy in his life and in his later years enjoyed tapes and videos when he was no longer able to play. The family wishes to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Selkirk General Hospital for their care and compassion. A celebration of Boris's life will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Love you Always Papa. We will miss you so much for you have touched our hearts in so many ways.
