Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I met Gary in elementary (Carpathia) we then went to River Heights together. We had a fun few years together. Whether we were talking about AC/DC, Mike Tyson’s punch out or his love for chip and pepper wear. He was always a blast. He was a kind person from what I remember. R.I.P Gary. - Posted by: Len Ross (Elementary school friend. ) on: Nov 07, 2024

  • Today, I am thinking about my dear friend Gary as he would have been 38 on this day. It has been five years since his passing and I think of Gary often. Gary and I had been friends for twenty years but our friendship strengthened just months before his death, we would chat daily and even had plans to sit in the sun and drink red wine on the day of his death. He was a very special soul. And the most intelligent, talented and raw person I have ever met. Gary, you are truly and deeply missed by many. 'That is love and I feel the same way'. - Posted by: Ingrid (Friend) on: May 09, 2015

  • I met Gary during his stay in Calgary. He and I got very close very quickly. We just understood each other. Our time was short but I've since learned that it is extremely difficult to come across a friendship like that. We lost touch when he moved back home. I miss him terribly and think about him every day. More now than ever. He truly was a wonderful man. He was real, honest, kind, smart, articulate, eccentric and had such a charismatic smile. I was so looking forward to seeing it again, hearing his voice again, learning his words again. I'll never forget the way he saw me! His presence in my life meant so much to me and I am blessed to have been a part of his. - Posted by: Susana () on: Mar 03, 2015

  • I met Gary Rent a decade ago and he became one of my very closest friends. Many people knew Gary, but very few may have known him like I did. Gary was a lot of things, a student, a teacher, a brother, a son, most of all he was the most selfless, caring loving friend anyone could have! He ADORED his family! He loved school and had a passion for everything he did like no other! Thank you for changing my life in soo many ways and saving it in ways I cant explain Gary. I will miss you endlessly old friend!! God Bless Gary and the entire Rent Family! - Posted by: Ata (Friend) on: Sep 25, 2012

  • I met Gary when we took a class together at the university. We right away got along and the rest is history. We spent some time at his place and at school studying and writing papers. Gary had such a positive outlook on life and succeeded at anything he did because he never gave up. He always encouraged me and was always there for me. I loved being around him and loved when he'd call me. I miss hearing his voice, I miss his hugs. Everytime I hear Rhiannas "umbrella" I think of Gary because he dedicated that song to me years ago.So even though I cant see or hear you voice, I still have all the great memories we shared and will cherish those always. Rest in peace Gary Steven - Posted by: Priscilla () on: Jul 28, 2012
