ROGER DOMENCO It is with a deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roger, beloved Father, Grandpa, Husband, Brother and Friend, on July 29, 2010 at the Grace Hospice, Winnipeg, MB with his loved ones by his side. Roger had almost beaten the Stroke that felled him 2009, when after a hard fought battle with Cancer, God took our special and unique Roger to Heaven. He will be so sadly missed by family: granddaughter Brynn, daughters Tracy, Laurie Mistafa (Bob), and Tamara, who was unwavering in love, caring and tender devotion to her Dad - never leaving his side and forging a bond that was truly wonderful, never to be forgotten. Also left to mourn Roger are his brothers John Jimmy , Allan (Kelly), Richard (Dalphine) and Larry, sisters, Janet Jenny Ahoff and Patricia Muska, his wife of 30 years, Janet, who stood by Roger and Tamara during sad times filled with making Roger comfortable during his illness, numerous nieces and nephews and a wide array of dear Friends. Roger was predeceased by his father, Norman Michael in 1966 and mother Anna (nee Korol) in 1981. Also predeceasing Roger were his brothers, Edward, Michael Max , Nicholas and Lloyd, sisters, Katherine Antonio, Mary Heath, Anne Bashuky and Doreen Tarko. Roger, the Dodger , was born to be a cattle rancher, something he did as a young lad and returned to as a grown man in his 60s. He was happiest under a full sun, hands dirty with work and his heart filled with pride for a job well done. Roger was an entrepreneur, starting businesses throughout his life that enabled him to use his creativeness, strong work ethic and green thumb . Being in construction and car business with his brother Richard was a great joy to Roger, swathing fields with Allan, working in the fish and car business with John Jimmy , watching young Larry grow and have him help out his big brother Rogie . He considered his brothers and sisters his best friends, cherishing every one of them and their families. He started a garden nursery and as it turned out he truly had a green thumb, he relished in the fact that tiny little seedlings would sprout and flourish under his ever-watchful eye. Red Tango Geraniums were his favourite flowers. He grew a Strawberry U-Pick and Market Garden which needless to say had Jan produce jar after jar of strawberry jam, pickles and figured out endless ways to preserve tomatoes after he would proudly bring 50 lbs at a time to the doorstep of their home. Roger's passions included family, friends and his special companion Zoe. He loved to travel, fish, watch hockey and football, Toonie Tuesdays at KFC, playing 649, Gondola Pizza and chocolate. Number one on his list of favourite hobbies was playing guitar and singing songs by Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. His guitars were his pride and joy and country music was the soundtrack of his life - Daddy Sang Bass . A memory as a young and jubilant fellow was sneaking into the local Hutterite Colonies with guitar and tape deck in hand and joining in the fun and celebration of a Hulba. Grand ol times that Roger loved and never forgot. Roger's family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at RealCare for all their kindness and support and for such a short time, the staff at Grace Hospice. The funeral service was held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg MB at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations kindly accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Grace Hospice. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
