WALDEMAR SAWATZKY Peacefully, with family by his side, Waldemar Sawatzky quietly passed at the age of 81 in Chilliwack, BC on Friday, July 2, 2010. Waldemar, or Walter, as most know him, was born in Warwarowka, Ukraine, on November 3, 1928 to Herbert and Adina Sawatzky. Walter was predeceased by his wife Irene in 1991. He will forever be remembered by his two children Mark (Jody) and Nancy (Doug Hologroski), his two grandchildren Austin and Madison Hologroski, his partner Margot Schrem, his younger brother Erich (Georgia) and many other family and friends. Walter immigrated to Canada in October 1949, where he was a farm worker in Inglis, MB until 1953. He then moved to Winnipeg and worked in the construction business until he finally retired 41 years later. During this period, he met Irene, they married in 1955, raised two children, and were together for 36 years until her passing in 1991. A widower, in 2001 he decided to move with his partner Margot to Chilliwack, BC where he spent his last nine years enjoying all that British Columbia had to offer. He would repeatedly boast about the fact that ...the flowers are blooming... in February. Interment will be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens (4477 Main St.) Thursday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. Family gathering to follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Transplant Manitoba - Gift of Life Trust Fund, Room GE441, Health Sciences Centre, 820 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1R9 in memory of Waldemar Sawatzky. I loves you all!!!
