BARRY MICHEAL TURGEON Barry Micheal Turgeon, father of Alison (Anthony) of Australia and Sean of Ottawa, grandfather of Emily and Alex, passed away at home on August 2, 2010. Born November 15, 1948, in Kingston, ON, Barry lived in Ottawa before moving to Winnipeg in 1989 where he met Maryon, his partner of 20 years. Barry worked for good friends Paul and Donna Simeonidis at Santa Lucia restaurant on Waterloo, then as a glazier at Jeld-Wen Windows until his first heart attack in 2000 forced him into retirement. Barry is also survived by his brother Richard of Winnipeg, and stepmother Bernice of Perth, ON, and was predeceased by father Norman in 2006 and mother Rita (Sexsmith) in 2009. Barry had a kind and giving heart, with a great love of people and animals, often getting to know people through their animals. In summer, he would mow all the neighbourhood lawns and boulevards, and in winter, snow blow the neighbours' paths and driveways clear. He enjoyed meeting and visiting with people, young and old, and was never at a loss for words, always finding something to talk or argue about. He will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends for his delicious cooking and delectable cheesecake, his wild, crazy antics and endless stories, but above all, for his terrific sense of humour and giving nature. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, contributions in memory of Barry may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of their choice.
