BERT CLARENCE HONKE Bert left us peacefully on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Deer Lodge Centre. Bert was born on March 14, 1938, the first of five children of Ferdinand and Emily Honke. Bert spent his younger years on the family property in Seven Sister Falls, eventually moving to Winnipeg with his family. In his younger days, Bert played fastball, with the second generation of The Hungry Nine. Bert also continued a family passion for music, country music in particular, and enjoyed playing guitar and singing. Bert spent the early part of his working career with Perths Cleaners, then later would join Canada messenger, first as a delivery driver and finally retiring as a dispatcher. Bert is survived by his son Christopher Luellman (Jackie) and grandson Adam. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn (William), brother Oscar (Virginia) and sister-in-law Pat. Bert was predeceased by his parents, Emily and Ferdinand; his wife Jeanette; brothers, Herbert and Gordon; and sister-in-law Irene. Bert leaves to mourn numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., at 3030 Notre Dame Ave., on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to: Deer Lodge Centre, in memory of Bert Honke. A private family interment will take place at a later date, in the family plot, at the River Hills Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and doctors at Deer Lodge Centre for the great care and patience they gave to Dad. Rest in peace Dad and we hope you catch that big Jack in heaven!
