Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADDY PETERSON The world lost a beautiful woman on Saturday, July 31, 2010. It is with the deepest sorrow and heartbreak that we announce the loss of our mom and best friend Gladdy Peterson. Mom was predeceased by her husband Ken; mother and father Alma and Bob Gunn; sister Donna Zaporzan; brother Lawrie Gunn; brother-in-law Archie Gunn and her two puppies Mulligan and Meko. Mom leaves to mourn her children: son Kenny (Susie), daughter Kimmy, daughter Kerri-Dawn (Derrick) and son Bobby-Joe (Corrie). She also leaves to mourn her loving grandchildren: Dana (Travis), Nathan (Deanna), Samantha, Jordan, McKenna-Jae, Keaton, Deuce and Fluff. As well she also leaves her treasured great-grandchildren Morgan, Sarah and Dawson. Also left to mourn are her brother Robert Gunn (Betty); sister Janice Elliott (Keith), numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, numerous extended family members, and many cherished friendships. Mom was born in Selkirk, MB on July 14, 1933, and made her home here. She met our dad Ken and they were married on December 12, 1953. When they purchased the house on McLean Avenue, they never looked back and raised their four children there. Mom remained in the home until present day. Mom graduated from the Selkirk Collegiate Institute in 1951 and completed a certified course in Comptometry at the Comptometer School of Winnipeg in 1952. In 1952 mom took a job at Modern Dairies as a Comptometer Operator and remained there until 1955 as she was married and had a young family. In 1957 mom started at the Manitoba Telephone System as a Telephone Operator. Mom was given two promotions during the years as a junior supervisor and then supervisor. Mom absolutely loved her job and enjoyed going everyday. Mom's pleasant and humorous nature made her easy to work with and the reason why so many people loved to work with her. Mom was an extremely punctual person and she was always extremely well groomed and fashionable. Mom's greatest joy in her life were her children and she was happiest surrounded by them. Mom loved to watch her favourite TV programs, movies and reading. Mom's true passion was her love for travel and shopping. Our mother was one of a kind and she showed and taught us what a true parent should be! A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. We love you mom and we will miss and cherish you always! (As long as we are spared!) Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
