ELLA TOEWS Ella Voth Toews was born to Jacob and Elizabeth Toews on February 21, 1930 at Greenland, Manitoba. She peacefully departed this life just before midnight on August 8, 2010 at Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, MB with her twin sisters at her side. At the tender age of 12 years she answered the call of her personal Saviour and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on December 21, 1942 by Minister P. A. Penner. In spite of perplexing difficulties at times, she endeavored to serve the Lord sincerely. We are confident that she was ready to meet her Maker. She attended the Montezuma School at Greenland. She found employment at various places spending many years at the municipal hospitals in Winnipeg in the dietary section. She was a conscientious, diligent worker. She liked to be punctual. During her more active years she enjoyed traveling to different countries. She was a great story teller somewhat like her maternal grandmother. She spent a little time at Sunchild Mission at Rocky Mountain House in Alberta. In 1982 she moved to Maplewood Manor self care units. In June of 2000, due to failing health, she was admitted to full care where she was lovingly cared for. We as a family greatly appreciate the efforts of the staff to keep her comfortable. Thank you. Those left to cherish fond memories are two brothers and three sisters: Alphae (Frances) Toews of Cartwright, MB; Victor (Virginia) Toews of Ste. Anne, MB; Laura Toews of Steinbach, MB; Frances (Michael) Prystupa of Winnipeg; Florence McKay of Winnipeg; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother-in-law and two nephews. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach on Wednesday, August 11 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Greenland, MB with interment in the church cemetery.
