JEAN (JENNY) GUTOSKI (nee PORROK) Peacefully, on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jean Gutoski passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 91 years. Remaining to forever cherish Jean's memory are her sons Gary (Loretta), Wayne (Judy), Allan (Debbie); grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer), Kurt (Tara), Kalon, Keenan, Kathy (Myron), Kris, Michael, Stacey (Ron), Kimberly; ten great-grandchildren, Emily, Preston, Katie, Riley, Landon, Bailey, Connor, Breanna, Carly, Haley; sisters Mary Sholdak, Nellie Tanchuk, and brother Bill Porrok. She was predeceased by her husband, John; sisters Annie Levandosky, Alice Hancharyk, Polly Loepp, and brother Mike. Jean was born on June 29, 1919 to Mike and Catherine Porrok in Mountain Road, MB. She married her husband, John, in 1939. Together they built a home in Eden, MB and it is there that their three sons were born. In 1951, the family moved to Winnipeg. Jean was a stay at home mom to her three sons and enjoyed many family and extended family activities. Her favourite hobby was knitting and many people benefited from her craft. Mom was a long time active member of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. In 2003, she moved to Lodge 7W, Deer Lodge Centre, the place she came to call home . At the centre she enjoyed crafts, gardening, special activities, luncheons and the real friendships of fellow residents and all staff members. Divine Liturgy will be Celebrated on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 590 Alverstone Street, with Rev. Fr. Michael Krochak, presiding. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers will be Jean's grandchildren Kevin, Kurt, Kalon, Keenan, Kris and Michael Gutoski. The family would like to extend their gratitude for the compassionate and comforting care they provided at Lodge 7W, Deer Lodge Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Deer Lodge Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
