ERNA A. GEILER (nee BROSZEIT) December 26, 1922 - August 17, 2010 After saying Good-Bye to her family it is with great love and sorrow we announce our Mother and Grandmother has gone to her heavenly home. Mom was born in Germany coming to Canada with her parents at the age of two. They briefly lived in the Greenridge area then settled on the farm near Dominion City. Mom and Dad married in the Emerson Lutheran Church in l943 and began their life together on the farm in the Overstone area. Mom worked hard on the farm, planting a large garden, helping out with the daily chores of mixed farming and raising a family. Mom loved having children around, so many nieces and nephews spent their summers at the farm. They remained on the farm until 1974, retiring to Emerson. Retirement was not to be, as Mom secured a part time housekeeping position at the hotel and taught her granddaughters to make a bed with a perfect square corner. Mom's love for people gave her a busy social life: she volunteered at the Emerson Personal Care Home; enjoyed stitching many quilts; loved shuffleboard at the New Horizons and many a Bingo game. Mom was an avid reader so anything in print held her attention for many hours. It was important for Mom to have her daily devotions and Sunday Service. Mom was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the E.L.W. Health reasons forced Mom to move to The South Gate Haven where she enjoyed her neighbours. Her next move was to the Emerson Personal Care Home. Mom was predeceased by her husband William; one grandson Michael; one grandchild (stillborn), one great-grandchild Joshua, one great-grandchild (stillborn); and one son-in-law Jack. She is lovingly survived and cherished by her children Margaret (Dennis), Linda (George), David, Sharron (Ben), Adeline (Frank); 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; her sister Agnes Hoffman; sister-in-law Marion Broszeit; and extended family members and friends. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church. We the family wish to thank staff and volunteers at the Emerson Personal Care Home for their care and friendship over the years, the volunteers of the Emerson Handi-Van and the caring professionals at the Morris Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Friedensthal, MB. Interment to follow at Emerson Cemetery. We will Miss You Mom. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
