Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE ORVAL CLOSSON Peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2010 Leslie Orval Closson passed away at the DeSalaberry District Health Centre in St-Pierre-Jolys, MB. Leslie was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Cecile (nee Hebert), daughter-in-law Agnes, grandson Shawn and all of his brothers and sisters. Dad will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his children: Richard, Shirley Ewonchuk (Bob), Claudette (Jim Dewart), Ronald, Glen (Lynda) and Noelle: grandchildren Michael (Joelle), Darrell and Steven; Ryan (Melissa) and Stacey Ewonchuk and Shannon: great-grandchildren Victor Closson and Ryder Ewonchuk. Leslie will also be missed by his brother-in-law Laurent (Lea) Hebert and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and the USA. Dad was born in Atkinson, Nebraska in 1920, moved to Dufrost as a child with his family, where they farmed. Leslie and Cecile were married on Easter Sunday in 1944. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a Military Policeman in occupied Munich, Germany under General Patten. Upon returning from Europe, mom and dad raised their family of six and dad worked as a mechanic in Dufrost, serving the farming community until his retirement when they moved to St. Malo. Dad's lifelong passions were hunting and fishing which he did until his mid-eighties and he instilled this same passion in his three sons. He also enjoyed a variety of sports and throughout his retirement, he and mom worked passionately in his garden tending his grapes and fruit trees. A huge thank you to the homecare workers who worked with dad and enabled him to live at home as he wished. Deepest gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and staff who were dad's angels during his brief stay at the hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DeSalaberry Health Foundation, St-Pierre-Jolys, MB, R0A 1V0. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Malo Catholic Church, Father Marcel Chaput officiating.
