Born: Feb 19, 1939
Date of Passing: Aug 31, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS GORUN It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Phyllis Gorun, 71 years on August 31, 2010. She leaves behind her partner and love of her life Stan Kasperski of 30 years, brother Andrew Gorun, niece Andrea (Glen), nephew Michael (Linda) and great-nieces and nephew Stephanie, Natalie, Samantha and Pierce. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Nettie Gorun and sister in-law Patricia Gorun. Phyllis was born February 19, 1939 and raised in West Kildonan and lived her whole life there. After graduating from West Kildonan Collegiate, she worked at various companies before settling in at Air Canada where she worked as an Account Receivables Clerk for 30 years until her retirement in 1995. After retirement, Phyllis and Stan enjoyed their time travelling to casinos, garaging and setting up many garage sales, gardening and volunteering for clubs such as Meals on Wheels, the Antique Association, the Purple Martin Club and the Treasure Cove in North Kildonan. Friends will sadly miss her company and smiling face at many of the antique shows where she regularly set up throughout Winnipeg. She especially loved selling her great finds on eBay and made a mini business of it. Besides cooking delicious meals on a continual basis, Phyllis enjoyed fine dining and a good glass of wine. A naturally born nature lover, she regularly fed her yard rabbits, squirrels, birds and had a huge soft side for dogs. (Tina and Lily will truly miss their Chucha). An avid gardener, she always grew a large and prosperous garden sharing with the family her tomatoes, beans and beets. Her biggest attribute was her love for her family and she possessed the biggest heart of all. A positive, gentle, kind hearted lady and very well liked by all that met her, she will be terribly missed every day. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to an animal shelter of your choice. Services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.
