Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD CAMERON October 8, 1924 August 28, 2010 Peacefully with his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters by his side, on August 28, 2010 Ed passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 85. Ed was predeceased by his loving wife Ann in November 2006, his son Jim in April 1983. Ed will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his daughter Linda (Ralph), granddaughters Laurie, Sherri (Derek), Courtney and great-granddaughter Emily, his daughter-in-law Sharon, grandson Scott (Rozalyn) and great-grandsons Chase and Joel, extended family members and friends. Ed was born in St. James and lived nearly all his life in St. James, moving to Headingly and then to Oakbank for a short time and finally returning to St. James. Ed and Ann were married October 5, 1946 and were devoted to each other for 60 years until the passing of Ann. Ed served in the Royal Canadian Navy from June 30, 1943 until August 15, 1945. After his discharge from the Navy, Ed worked for the City of St. James until his retirement as Superintendent of St. James Public Works in 1982. In Ed's younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Ed always loved dogs and began raising and breeding black and golden Labradors. He was involved with the Manitoba Gun Dog Club where he entered labs in field trials and shows, winning many trophies, ribbons and medals. Ed was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. When Ann became house bound, Ed was her sole caregiver and she could not have had a better person taking care of her. Family always came first to Ed. After the birth of his great-granddaughter Emily, he became known as Grampa Ed . The family wishes to thank the compassionate and caring staff of Tower 3 at Deer Lodge Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg, Unit 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., viewing one-half hour prior. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
