ANTHONY (TONY) GARDNER (MONTANTI) It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Tony on September 2, 2010. Born Anthony Michael Montanti in Winnipeg, Manitoba, September 1, 1930. Tony was predeceased by his wife Joy of 60 years. Left to mourn are his daughter Angela (Vernon); son Marc (Teresa); grandchildren, Veronica (Tim), Bryan, Stefano and Toni; great-granddaughter Zarya; brother Jim Gardner; sister-in-law Beth Thoroski, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and of course, his very special friend Lucy Ciuro. Tony had a passion for business. During the 1950s, he owned Riverwood Esso. In the 1960s, he owned two billiard halls (Miami and Thunderbird) and from 1977 to 2010 the Cambridge Hotel. When Tony wasn't at the Cambridge he was curling and watching sports, especially football and hockey. He enjoyed fishing, from his cottage on Lake of the Woods, Ontario to the deep waters of the West Coast and the Arctic Ocean. Tony will be remembered in our hearts forever as a loving, generous, humourous individual; a great man who always placed his family first. Dad, we will miss you deeply. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
