FREDERICK CHARLES FIGGURES (FRED) January 22, 1947 September 12, 2010 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Fred Figgures in Burnaby, British Columbia on September 12, 2010. Left to cherish Fred's memory are his son Justin and Justin's mother Kathy, his partner Angela and her daughter Lorean, his sister Sally (Brian) Metcalfe, his nephews Jonathan (Lindsay) and Christopher of Winnipeg, Manitoba, his brother John (Linda) Figgures, his niece Alyssa, and his nephew Michael of Edmonton, Alberta. He also leaves to mourn numerous friends and acquaintances. Fred was predeceased by his mother and father, Florence and Herbert Figgures. Fred was born in Edmonton, Alberta but soon moved to Aklavik, Northwest Territories where he lived until age 10. The family then moved to Pine Falls, Manitoba and finally settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. When Fred was in his early 20s, he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia where he worked as a salesperson in the Eaton's home entertainment department. Fred was very gifted at being able to configure any electronic component to make it perform flawlessly. His creations were something to behold! Fred often worked as a security guard at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver. He always had a knack of making people smile. Fred loved to chat with everyone he met. He definitely had the gift of the gab! Fred truly enjoyed the times when he met for coffee with his numerous friends at Starbucks. One of the greatest loves of his life was his motorcycle, a Honda Gold Wing and more recently a Honda Shadow. He could be seen travelling all over the city and western provinces on board one of his prized possessions. Life was great! Throughout Fred's short illness with cancer, we have many people to thank, starting with the fabulous doctors and nurses of the Burnaby General Hospital, especially those connected with the 3D ward and the Palliative Ward 2D. Fred was also blessed to have been taken care of by the wonderful people of the Cancer Clinic. Special thanks go to Easter who helped him throughout these trying times. Fred has been cremated and his ashes will be sent to Winnipeg where he will be buried with his mother and father. There will be no formal funeral service but friends are encouraged to gather and reminisce about Fred. Fred, Rest in Peace! We love you!
