Date of Passing: Sep 18, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMELINDA MCPHAIL It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Melinda McPhail, on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the age of 61. Her last week was spent at the Health Sciences Centre fighting the good fight after suffering a stroke. Surrounded by family, Mel peacefully drew her last breaths while holding the hands of both of her daughters. Although heavy hearted, we will seek comfort in the fact that Mel choose the same day to pass as her husband Dennis did, seven years previous. She is survived by her daughters Angi (Bob) and Tamara (Adam), grandchildren Ella, Brolin, Jordyn, Nola and Olivia, mother Margaret, brothers Ed and Bob (Michelle), sister Brenda, mother-in-law Lovina, brothers-in-law Rob (Caroline), Doug (Cathy), Jim (Laurie), Brad (Sue), Neil, sisters-in-law Dawn and Pat, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces / nephews and friends. Mel will fondly be remembered for her generous, caring and loving nature, for her love of music and dancing, for her hospitality and culinary skills. Mel's door was always open, whether you needed food in your belly, company, or to simply watch Dirty Dancing for the evening. Although the years after Dennis' passing were difficult for her, she also discovered happiness in independent living in the Village and a love of traveling, flying to Mexico for Colby's wedding, and making a yearly pilgrimage out to Cortes Island, BC to visit her youngest daughter Tamara and her family. Mel took great pleasure in her grandchildren, being with her family and her morning ritual with the coffee crew. She will be sadly missed by all those she touched. Please join us in a celebration of her life on Friday, September 24 at 3:30 p.m., Ambassador Room A, Canad Inns, 1824 Pembina Hwy.
