ERIC BRUNO LUBOSCH January 23, 1938 - September 25, 2010 Father, friend, adventurer, horseman, athlete, humanitarian, artist, musician, food connoisseur and lover of life. Rain or shine, Eric greeted every day with a smile and anticipation. Those who were privileged to know him remarked how even a brief exchange of pleasantries with Eric, would leave them feeling happy and uplifted. Eric was always willing and eager to lend a hand and often put the needs of others ahead of his own. He placed an extremely high value on his family and his friends knew that he was someone they could count on. Eric had a deep and passionate appreciation for nature. He often marveled at its beauty; from the delicate petals of a prairie crocus to the majesty of a Manitoba elk in the Duck Mountains, the natural world thrilled Eric! Eric loved going to the Y, skiing the Rockies, and riding his horse at The Ranch . Eric earned his BA and Master of Social Work from the University of Manitoba and went on to a long and rewarding career in social work as the Director of Services to Seniors for the Province of Manitoba. There, he and a team of like-minded social workers led the way for the development of vital programs and services for elderly people including the provincial Home Care Program, seniors' health promotion and the development of Senior Centre organizations across Winnipeg and Manitoba. Eric's retirement from his career as a civil servant inspired a personal renaissance. He spent many hours attending art classes and took up violin studies while continuing his lifelong participation in the First Mennonite Church choir and the Winnipeg Mennonite Theatre. Eric was a kind and nurturing father who always made time for his kids. While his unexpected passing on September 25, 2010 leaves family and friends in mourning, his legacy of generosity and caring lives on. Eric is lovingly remembered by his daughter Anita, son Mark, friend Lore, mother-in-law Helene Peters and sisters Irene Krueger and Erica Page and families as well as his beloved pets, Juba, Axel, Summer, Pal, Pavlova, and Pedro. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Avenue with cremation to follow. Viewing on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street and at the church prior to the service.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My deepest sympathies to the Lubosch family on this tragic loss. As you probably know, Eric and I were close friends, since meeting in 1946 as young kids. He effectively became my mentor. We have kept in touch all these years due to our mutual respect and shared interests. Eric was undoubtedly the finest person that I have known in my life, who would give you the shirt off his back. I cherish his memory. - Posted by: Ted Starr (Family) on: Sep 29, 2010
