Date of Passing: Oct 09, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILY M. ROBINSON (nee WENHAM) Peacefully on October 9, 2010 Lily passed away at the age of 94 years at the Riverview Health Care Centre. Left to treasure their memories of her are her sons Ron (Carol), Jack (Kate), Tim (Linda), granddaughter Jennifer and her many friends at the Windsor Park United Church. She was predeceased by her husband Desmond Robinson, parents Annie and Mark Wenham and brothers Len and Bill. Born in Wenham Valley, Alberta August 28, 1916 Lily spent most of her life living in Winnipeg - growing up in Weston (graduated from Cecil Rhodes High School) and living most of her adult life in Windsor Park. She was a lifetime member of the Windsor Park United Church-singing in the choir, serving on the church board, and was an active member on many church units. Lily's working accomplishments included a long term service medal from the Royal Canadian Legion for years as the secretary at the No.1 Branch and a lifetime membership from the Padres Association - the only woman to ever receive such recognition. Mom dedicated her life to the support of her family and her church. For her family her love was unconditional and unfailing. She expressed her love in many ways - there are many fond memories of time spent with Mom especially Sunday afternoons and special occasion dinners. Her baking was par excellence - the chocolate cookies were the favourite of the neighbourhood drawing children for blocks around and her chocolate cake will be sorely missed. In her dedication to her church, Lily was an active member at the Windsor Park United Church. She was a true Christian in every sense of the word. She lived her life not just espousing the values of charity, understanding, compassion, and giving but demonstrating through her everyday actions her commitment to those beliefs. Everyone who knew her was better for her friendship. She was a positive influence on many lives-more than she ever knew. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Butt for watching out for Mom for all the years she spent living in Windsor Park. In her final years a thank you to the staff at Rosewood and Riverview Health Care (Ward 3D) for their dedication during her residency there and particularly Riverview for the loving care she was given in her last hours. A service in honour of her memory will be held at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive, on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
