MARIA BERTA ATAIDE DA SILVA After a long illness, Maria da Silva passed away on October 15, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Maria is survived by her children Estela Fernandes (Armando), Giselia DeMedeiros (Gabriel), Adolfo Augusto, Maria Berta, Gilberto Manuel (Ana), Ana Silva, Leah Silva (Evaristo), Luis Silva (Bonita) and Cristina Coelho (Paulo); 23 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; as well as her nephews, niece and her brother-in-law Frank (Maria) Silva. She was predeceased by her parents Liduina Silva and Adolfo Augusto Ataide, and son Joao Silva. Maria was born on November 5, 1930. She was raised in Pico, Azores, Portugal where she met and married Gilberto in 1949 and had 10 children. In 1971 they moved to Canada. Maria then spent the remainder of her life in Canada with her children. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria's memory to the Children's Wish Foundation or a charity of your choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
