DOROTHEA FOX Our mother passed away peacefully at the age of 85, after courageously battling various types of cancer and illnesses on November 10, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband Reg Fox in 2000, and will be missed by her three children, Laurie (Susan) Fox, Susan (Rick) Cochrane and Lesley (Garth) Buchko; as well as grandchildren, Sean, Colin and Brendan Fox, Ashley and Erin Cochrane and Matthew, Riley and Connor Buchko. Mom was born in Lockport in 1925 and although the only daughter of Bill and Irene Hart, she grew up with many special cousins and was a consummate Red River girl at heart. As a young woman, Mom had an important role in the beginnings of Manitoba Blue Cross. Mom found her true love when she met Reg, being introduced by best friends Al, and Isabel Carthur. Mom and Dad celebrated 49 years of marriage together. When Dad's career took the family to Boissevain, Mom became involved in the IODE and the ACW. Throughout her life, Mom had a strong faith in God and she was a long time member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church Woodhaven. For over 30 years, Mom and Dad lived in Westwood raising three children and making many friends. After raising their three children, Mom went back into the workforce with Statistics Canada. Mom and Dad loved winter times in Honolulu and supplying their family and friends with pineapples and macadamia nuts. Mom was challenged by many types of cancer and successfully battled them over the last several years of her life. For the past three years, Mom was lovingly cared for at the Misericordia Place and Interim Care Unit. The family is eternally grateful to the caring nurses and health care aids who kept Mom comfortable and happy during her time there, you are truly special people. Mom, we will miss your smiling face and warm kisses. Pallbearers are Rick Cochrane, Garth Buchko, Erin Cochrane, Sean Fox, Colin Fox and Brendan Fox. Honorary pallbearers are, Ashley Cochrane, Matthew Buchko, Riley Buchko and Connor Buchko. Donations may be made in Mom's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010, in the St. Andrews on the Red Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
