EDITH MURIEL MANNING (THOMSON)
Date of Passing: Nov 11, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH MURIEL MANNING (nee THOMSON) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our mother, Edith Manning at the Victoria General Hospital on Thursday, November 11, 2010. Mom was predeceased by Dad (Glenn Manning), and our brother Terry. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Garry and wife Barb, Dale and wife Norma, and daughter Valerie; grandchildren Bob (Barb), Jim (Katie), Sheri (Chris), and Rhonda (Kevin); great-grandchildren Kailie, Cole, Addyson, Avery, Taliah and Maisie. Edith was born on the family farm near Purves, MB on January 18, 1922. It was there that she met her husband Glenn and later married in 1944. Edith and Glenn, along with her sister Miriam and brother-in-law Vic, formed a band and played in local communities before and after the war years. After Dad returned from the war and being employed with C.N.R. they relocated around the province living in Virden, Moosehorn, Clanwilliam and Elma. It was in Elma that Edith lost her beloved husband Glenn. She then relocated to Winnipeg to find employment. Edith then worked for Peoples Jewellers Polo Park for 10 years before retiring. She thoroughly enjoyed her time working there, developing lasting friendships with the staff and took pleasure of caring for customers. Mom loved to be outside in her garden tending to her flowers and shrubs with a knowledge about each plant that would keep us in amazement. Mom loved her faithful companion Kelly, her dog and was always concerned for the well being of any animal. When the weather was cold she would always lament about the poor animals that may not have shelter. Due to her health, Mom moved into Tuxedo Villa, 2007, and then later relocating to Riverpark Gardens. She always took it upon herself to look after her fellow residents and friends and lend a helping hand to the staff. It was there that she developed some very close friends. Mother: May you always walk in sunshine And God's love around you flow, For all the happiness you gave us no one will ever know It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone, Mom, part of us went with you, The day God called you home. Your thoughts were so full of us You never could forget And so we think that where you are You must be watching yet. As angels keep their watch up there Please God just let Mom know, That we down here will not forget We love and miss her so. If we could have one lifetime wish One dream that could come true, We would wish with all our hearts For yesterday and you. Lord if there are roses in Heaven Pick a bunch with care, Place them in both her arms And tell her we still care. LOVE YOU MOM AND WE'LL MISS YOU! As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service was held on Monday, November 15, 2010 in Pilot Mound, where she was interred with her husband and son. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

I am the grandson of Ken Thomson, Edith's brother. I live in Sanford, MB, and was researching family history when I came across the announcement of Edith's passing. I never had the opportunity to meet Edith but would like to send my condolences to the family. - Posted by: Scott Thomson (Great nephew) on: Mar 29, 2017
