Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHALLDOR INGVI FINNSON September 18, 1935 November 22, 2010 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Halldor at the age of 75 at the Arborg Districts Health Centre. Halldor is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sigurbjorg; his daughter Wanda (Adrian); son Brad and daughter-in-law Kathy (Louie); grandchildren, Alanna (Adam), Cole, Brendan and Devon; and great-grandson Zen. He will also be remembered by his brothers, Gustaf (Betty) and Harold; sisters-in-law, Ellen (Robbie), Anna (Tryggvi), Kristin (Roland), Linda (Ken) and Sylvia (Clifford); brother-in-law David (Lee) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Grant; his parents, Ingibjorg and Halldor; parents-in-law, Kris and Phyllis; brother-in-law Raymond; and sister-in-law Geraldine. Halldor was a big man with a big heart, gentle, caring and strong. He was broad minded and lived his life with an incredible sense of optimism and fun. We will so sadly miss his wonderful sense of humour, his big smile and big hugs. He has left us with a wealth of beautiful memories. Halldor had a great love of nature and of the land. He lived most of his life in Vidir, where he was born and later took over the family farm with his twin brother Harold. Music was an important part of Halldor's life. In his younger days, he was part of a family orchestra that played at many local dances. Through the years he continued to share his gift of music with his children and grandchildren who loved to hear him sing and play the guitar. While raising his family, Halldor served his community as a board member of Pool Elevators, Arborg Hospital and the Vidir Community Club. He also coached power skating and hockey for many years. After retiring from farming, he and Sigurbjorg moved to Arborg. Together they enjoyed working on the yard, visiting with family and friends, going on road trips and competing in floor curling at both local and provincial levels. Halldor loved life. He had a twinkle in his eye and was always full of fun. His life was a gift that he shared generously with so many. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. A private family interment of ashes will take place at the Vidir Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Halldor's memory may be made to the Arborg Districts Health Centre. When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Arborg in care of arrangements.
