Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIC WILLIAM SWANSON 1934 - 2010 Most dearly beloved husband of Marlene Miriam (nee Weitzel) passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, Wednesday, November 24, 2010 after suffering a stroke. He is survived by his wife and three sons: Carl William, Irene, and grandchildren Daniel Hugo, Roxanne, and Kate of Lakeville, MN; Eric Albert and Eunju of Winnipeg; Kurt Jacob of Winnipeg. He is also survived by two sisters Thelma White and Edith Kutcy. Eric was born November 3, 1934 at the old Grace Hospital in Winnipeg to Swedish born parents Carl Hugo Swanson and Brita Elise (nee Westberg) and grew up in the Sturgeon Creek area. He married Marlene on October 15, 1960 and they recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary with an intimate family dinner at 529 Wellington. Eric worked at C.P.R. as a fireman, then for Commonwealth Construction Co. and finally at C.N. Railways as a Carman for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Carl Arthur in 2000 and recently by his sister-in-law Nancy Swanson. His eyes have been donated to the Canadian Eye Bank. The family would like to thank the Emergency Department and the 6th floor staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for the compassionate care given to Eric. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 370 McKenzie Street, with Pastor G. Luetkehoelter presiding. Eric will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
