ANNIE SOPHIA GENSIOREK (nee KARPIUK) It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the passing of Annie Sophia Gensiorek. She passed away peacefully on December 16, 2010, at the Kildonan Personal Care Center. Anne was born in Rossburn, Mb, to Sankey and Julia (nee Hrankowski) Karpiuk on November 4, 1928. She grew up on a farm in Rossburn, attending the Lakedale School in Angusville. Anne's career began as the Post Master at the Angusville Post Office. She later worked as a teller at the Ethelbert Credit Union for 10 years. While living in Ethelbert, she also volunteered her time, working for 10 years as the Treasurer for the Orthodox Church. Anne was also one of the original typists for the Ethelbert Echo, working as a volunteer for the newspaper for 27 years. In 1951, Anne married Nicholas Gensiorek from Rossburn. They raised two children, Sandra Anne and Richard, in the Horod and Ethelbert areas. Anne was predeceased by her father (1938), mother (1986), daughter Sandra Anne (1994), and brothers Steve Karpiuk (2002) and William Karpiuk (2009). Left to cherish her memory are husband Nicholas, son Richard (Cheryl), grandchildren Kyla and Dylan, sister Millie Gushall (Toronto) and many nieces and nephews. Anne cherished the outdoors and fishing in various lakes throughout Horod and Duck Mountains. One of her favourite pastimes was driving through the Duck Mountains in the Fall, marvelling at its beautiful colors. She also loved camping, spending many days at Clear Lake in their motorhome. Anne possessed a strong artistic flare. Her hobbies include oil painting, cross stitching and knitting. Her family is blessed to have memories of her work to cherish in future years. Anne was a woman of considerable strength, maintaining a strong will and appreciation for life. She often spoke about living the life of Riley , being very content with her life and marrying the best person that she could have ever asked for . This strength also helped her endure the many challenges that she faced with her health over the past few years. The family wishes to extend its heartfilled gratitude to the staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Center for their overwhelming care, compassion and support. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to all those who expressed concern and support for Anne during her very trying last months. Anne will be especially remembered for her smile and striking blue eyes, which some say said a million things , as well as for being such a beautiful person. Prayers will be held Sunday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Monday, December 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, friends and family who wish to make a donation in Anne's memory, can do so to the Canadian Diabetes Society or to a charity of their choice. We will miss you and love you forever.
