MARIA ALHO FERREIRA Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Grace Hospital, aged 83. Our beloved mother and grandmother will be dearly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters, Adélia (José Maria Barbosa), Mimi (Custodio Reis) and Alda; grandchildren, Marina (André), Debby (Robert), Tania, Pedro and Marc; great-grandchildren, Emily and Afonso. Our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born on January 8, 1927 in Moitas Venda (Alcanena) Portugal. She came to Toronto, Canada in October 1966 with her husband José and daughters. The family settled in Toronto until the illness of her husband at which time they returned to Portugal. Following his death, Maria and her daughters moved to Canada, joining family in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband José Vieira Ferreira, her parents, two brothers and five sisters, and is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Portugal, Canada and France. She enjoyed and had a special talent for sewing and will be forever remembered for her endless hugs, kisses and unconditional love. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to family and friends for their prayers and support. Thank you as well to the staff of Grace Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion. Prayers, service and funeral will be held in Moitas Venda, Portugal on Thursday, December 30, 2010. Querida mae, avo, e vizavo descansa em paz, e ficarás eternamente no nosso coraçao.
