LAWRENCE (LAURIE) ARMAND GAUTHIER February 20, 1953 - December 29, 2010 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a loved and treasured husband, father, son-in-law, uncle and friend to so many. Laurie was predeceased by his parents Aimee and Irene Gauthier. He will be immensely missed by his loving wife Roseann of 37 years and their two sons and daughter-in-law, Brad (Candace) and Jeff and their precious grandchildren, Aiden and Aimee and Madison and Kirsten. He is survived by his sister Linda (Arne) Volkmar, brother Danny, nieces: Marcie (John) Friesen and great-nephew Logan; Lisa Abraham, along with many friends and family including his mother-in-law Lena and brother-in-law Larry Harder. Laurie was born and grew up in St. Boniface. While attending Red River Community College, he met and fell in love with Roseann and began their life together and started their beautiful family. Laurie began working in the drywall business with Ivory Plastering and began his own company for a few years before deciding to change career paths and attend Robertson Career College graduating from computer programming with honours. Although this did not lead into a career in computer technology, it provided him a good background for business. He then embarked on a career with Synko and during the last 13 years had enjoyed the opportunity of working at Kenroc Building Materials, as General Manager for the last 10 years. Laurie enjoyed his family, especially Sunday dinners with his kids and grandchildren and valued friendship. He enjoyed going to the lake at Twin Beaches where the family gathered for so many great times, camping, fishing and his most favourite outing was going moose hunting with his boys and close buddies Jim and Bob. Those who were fortunate to have met and to have known Laurie, leave with the memory of a warm friend and a man of integrity who was honest and sincere and who warmed your heart with his incredible smile. He displayed remarkable courage and strength through the last six years of his battle with cancer and remained positive and encouraged until the last few weeks of the battle. Special thank you to the staff on E6 at St. Boniface Hospital for all their care and compassion and special thanks to numerous family members and long time friends, Roger Chamberland, Fuzz Robert Lacasse and Denis Degane for their continuous support to the family during such a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the CNETS Canada, c/o Vernon Holt Treasurer, 1608 Blakely Drive, Cornwall, Ontario, K6J 5P4 or a charity of your choice is greatly appreciated. A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). Forever in our hearts, you will be sadly missed, but NEVER forgotten. NEIL BARDAL INC. FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
