Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK JAMES (JIM) STREICH November 9, 1940 - January 15, 2011 Surrounded by his family, Jim Streich peacefully left this world on January 15, 2011 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. Jim is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry (Ciara Shattuck), Dave (Tanya Beck) and three grandchildren, Miranda, Logan, and Evan. Jim is also survived by his brothers Garry (Margaret) and Herb (Audrey), sisters-in-law Rita Johnston (Dan) and Diane Walker (Chris), brother-in-law Don Baczewich and a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Marion on March 2, 2009, his parents William and Meta Streich, his father and mother-in-law Frank and Lida Baczewich, and his sister-in-law Phyllis Baczewich. Jim was born on November 9, 1940 in Selkirk, Manitoba. He and his brothers were raised on the family farm in Clandeboye, Manitoba. They have fond memories of growing up and spending time together doing chores on the farm, building tree forts, repairing cars and machinery, and learning about electrical wiring and other repair work from their dad. Jim and Marion were married on August 19, 1967. The newlyweds built their home and settled in Clandeboye. Terry was born in 1972 with Dave following shortly after in 1973. Jim and Marion had many close friends and enjoyed spending time with them and their families. Jim worked for several different companies, including C.N.R., Selkirk Linen Services, Quest Sheet Metal and Controlled Environments before starting his own business, Superior Agri-Systems, with a partner in the late 1970s. He later eased into retirement so he could spend more time doing the things he loved, although he was still going out on the odd job for SAS until he fully retired in the summer of 2010. Jim loved music and dancing, baseball and curling in his younger days, bonfires, game nights with friends, winter vacations in Mexico, golfing, and puttering in the shop where he would repair nearly everything that came across his path. Dad, you are loved and we will miss you. We are certain that you are happy to be reunited with Mom and that the two of you are enjoying a foxtrot together once again. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
