PAULINE CHRISTIE 1918 - 2011 It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Pauline at Foyer Valade Nursing Home on January 14, 2011. Pauline, our much loved fiesty red-head was the last survivor of a French Canadian family of six children raised in the Ft. Garry area. She was predeceased 29 years ago by her husband Clifford. She would have been 93 in February 2011. Mother is missed by her three daughters Janice of Winnipeg; Judy and husband Terry Wynters of Winnipeg, their two daughters Deanna, husband Mark Harper children Elianna and Josh all of England; Trina Wynters of Winnipeg, fiancé Brian Soares, and Pauline's youngest daughter Joyce of Winnipeg, and her son Jason Hambly. She had a particularly close and loving relationship with her three grandchildren and found it hard to believe she had two great-grandchildren. Pauline had a long career as a chief cashier for the Municipality of Ft. Garry, retired at 64 then began her 2nd career with Smith Agency of Winnipeg. Upon retirement at 77 years of age she moved to Victoria, BC for over 13 years then returned to Winnipeg. In Janice/Ted's home, Mother was a treasured family member, enjoyed family celebrations, loved to watch hockey with Ted our pharmacist/hockey player and played with Benji the dog. Lonely for others her own age and 90 years old she asked to live somewhere with other little ladies like me and moved to Foyer Valade Personal Care Home. Mother was best known for her French / Scottish wit, sharp sense of humour, her opinionated comments, and her high energy. She always wanted to be a hockey player, and her strong sense of independence along with her let's get out there and try attitude would have made her a star. She was our sparkling star nothing was too daunting for her and her attitudes of stiff upper lip and life goes on has been passed on to her family. Thanks to the friends who travelled with Mother over the last years, Fern, Glennis, Cecile of Victoria; June, Pauline, Noreen and Don, Mark, Verla and her person hairdresser Angie. A bouquet to the St. Boniface Home Care workers Janet, Nancy, and Aurora, and others who made her last few years comfortable in the community. Thank you to Foyer Valade and her friends there. In accordance with her wishes a cremation and private family service has taken place.
