SHIRLEY ALBERTA SARAH DAVIS (nee WOOD) August 24, 1937 - January 20, 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Shirley Davis, age 73. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 55 years, Kenneth Charles; children Kathleen (Ron, Kenneth, Douglas), Christine (Stan, Charlene, Andrew), Shirley Fay (Mickey, Shirley-Ann, Lonnie, Chiara and Gavin, Alexis, Walter, Katiana, Gabriel and Anabella), Douglas (Theresa), sisters-in-law Beatrice (Tom), Marva (Victor), Marlene and Adaline; brother-in-law Blain (Grace), as well as many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her mother and father, Ira and Vida Wood; brothers Phillip, Clinton, and baby Kenny; mother-in-law Louise (Davis) Rickbiel; brothers-in-law Sid Davis and James Mackie; sister-in-law Julia Honke. She was born in Emo, ON, grew up in Sleeman and Fort Frances, ON where she met the love of her life Ken. They married in 1955 and moved to Winnipeg in the spring of 1956, where they raised their family. Shirley was active in the community centre (Brookland Rec) where she participated in bowling, baseball and many other activities within the community. In 1994 Ken retired and they built their new home in Fisher Branch, MB. Through the years, Shirley volunteered with the Fisherton W.I. and in the canteen at the Fisherton Ranch Rodeo. She was an amazing wife, mother, loving grandmother and an always there for you friend. Shirley always put others, including animals, before herself. Even to the very last breath. She always knew how to put a smile on everyone's face. Shirley loved family gatherings, teaching us family recipes, canning, gardening skills, crocheting and knitting. She loved getting together and playing cards and bocci ball. Shirley also loved playing bingo at various local community halls, as well as crocheting and knitting articles for family and friends. Shirley had touched many hearts in her own special way and will be deeply missed. She is not truly gone, but is now an Angel watching over us all. A sincere Thank You to the staff at Percy E. Moore Hospital, Fisher Funeral Home, and Pastor James Thiessen. Viewing: Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service: Friday, January 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. both will be at the Ukrainian National Home in Fisher Branch, MB.
