Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIDA MAYTWAYASHING Peacefully on January 25, 2011 at the Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg, MB, Ida Maytwayashing, aged 75 years, of Winnipeg, formerly of Lake Manitoba First Nation. Mom was raised on the Dog Creek Indian Reserve. She attended school at Sandy Bay First Nation and later moved to Ashern where she started her family. While in Ashern, Mom worked at several different jobs including house cleaning. Later Mom moved to Eriksdale where she raised her family in the country. Following this, Mom moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her sister Elizabeth and other relatives. She lived in Winnipeg for the remainder of her senior years. Ida is survived by her children Alec (Lorna), Mary (Dennis), Barbara (Bill), Kimberly (Greg), Gloria, Erik (Doug) and Brenda (Randy); her grandchildren Melinda, Elvis, Terry, Wesley, Clayton, Billy, Stephanie, Christopher, Alison, Aaron, Michelle, Amanda, Harley, Shaneen, Chantal, Daisey, Connor and Janelle along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Our sincere thanks to the nursing staff and care givers at the Beacon Hill Lodge for their compassionate and loving care. A special thank you to Bev and Mary on the 7th Floor. A celebration of Mom's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Ashern Gospel Chapel with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing to begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the Ashern Gospel Chapel. Interment to follow in the Ashern Municipal Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert Maytwayashing, Elvis Maytwayashing, Brabant Swan, Marcel Dubuc, Dennis Mitchell and Connor Keeper.
