Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD (DICK) WILLIAM CARLUCK August 21, 1933 - January 28, 2011 After many years of poor health, Dick passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011 at St. Boniface General Hospital. Dick was predeceased by his parents William and Jean. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 43 years, Janet, daughter Andrea (Todd) Thornton, three wonderful grandsons, Keaton, Kolby and Hudson, as well as his two furry companions Max and Toby. Dick started working for the C.N.R. in 1951. He worked in the Fort Rouge Yard and later Symington Yard, retiring from the C.N. station on Main in 1988. He loved sitting on his patio admiring his rose garden and watching the many birds that came to his feeders. He was a great photographer and gardener. After he retired he became a wonderful cook and baker. Being a perfectionist, everything he did, he did well. He passed this trait on to his daughter. He really enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey the few times he was able to attend. In December 1991 he underwent throat cancer surgery and learned a new method of speaking. He never felt good about his new voice . For seven winters Dick and Janet packed up the dogs and headed to Scottsdale, Arizona where they met new friends. As Dick experienced several health problems, travelling became just a memory. A massive heart attack was his undoing. The family would like to thank the A.C.F. Clinic in the St. Boniface Hospital for their wonderful care. Special thanks to Dr. Theresa Cavett for her caring and compassion. Also thanks to Peter at the Shopper's Drug Mart in the hospital for all of his knowledge and help. In keeping with Dick's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Breathe deeply Dad. Good Luck, Happy Presentation.
