MARY PENNER July 12, 1919 - February 3, 2011 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and Nana. Peacefully on February 3, 2011 Mary Elizabeth Penner passed away at the age of 91. Mary was born in Mowbray, MB on July 12, 1919 to William and Edith Swayze. She attended Mowbray School and for a number of years helped take care of her youngest brother Cyril and sister Hazel. One Saturday night at a Mowbray dance she met Jake Penner. It took some hard work on Jake's part but Mary finally agreed to further dates and the rest is history; they fell in love and were married on March 1, 1952. After a few years of moving from place to place they settled in La Riviere, where they raised their three daughters. Shortly after Jake's death in 1995, Mary decided to move to Morden to be closer to her sister and brother. She spent six years in Morden before coming to live with her daughter Jackie and son-in-law Shane in Manitou. Mary lived in Manitou until her passing. Mary leaves to mourn her three daughters, Gayle (Robert) Thompson, Glenda Booth, Jackie (Shane) Dobson. She leaves seven grand-children, Dawn (Ray), Sherry, Shannon (Jordan), Johnny, Nicholas (Claire), Joey (Brooke) and Sara. She leaves to mourn six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel, Emily, Bre-ann, Brodie and Dane. She also leaves many nieces and nephews plus great and great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as Jake's sisters and their husbands. Mary was predeceased by her husband Jake in 1995; and her brothers, Harold, Russell, Keith and Cyril; sisters, Irene, Verna and Hazel. Mary was a quiet and dignified lady who loved her family deeply and without reservation. She spent many of her years providing care and support for her family especially her brother Cyril, sister Hazel, father William in his later years and her husband Jake, the love of her life. Funeral service to be held Monday, February 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the La Riviere United Church, La Riviere, Manitoba, Rev. Simpson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Morden Humane Society, Morden, MB or Boundary Trails Health Centre - Palliative Care Program. Grahams Funeral Services in charge of all arrangements. www.wheatlnd.com
