Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY EILEEN WHALEN Peacefully on January 31, 2011 at the Victoria General Hospital, Shirley passed away with her family by her side. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Bernie; brother Jimmy, Archie and Ben and son-in-law David George Sr. She will be missed by her children Donna, Doug (Cindy) of Thompson, Lowry (Heather) of Yellowknife, Jeff, Mary (Terry) of Thompson and Steve; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and her companion Lucky. Shirley enjoyed camping, bingo and spending time with her family. She worked at Woolworth's and opened the new Woolworth's store in Thompson. They moved to Edmonton in 1978 but eventually settled in Winnipeg where she worked at various Lotto Stands, Shopper's Drug Mart and retiring from MTS. Cremation has taken place and according to her wishes there will be a private family memorial. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Victoria General Hospital staff for the excellent care Shirley received during her time there. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. We will miss and love you Mom. I have often thought of Donna over the years. I remember the love between her and her parents. The loss of her mother, I am sure is hard to bear. Compassion and condolences forever.
