DOROTHY GERTRUDE HAWES A much loved aunt was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the age of 99 years. There to welcome her will be her mom Harriet and dad Bert, three brothers, Tom, Ray and Cuthbert and her sister Mary, a family reunited. She was also predeceased by her husband Frank, two nieces, Patricia and Meryl and a nephew Gary. Dode was a lifelong resident of Lockport, born and lived on the family property for 93 years at which time she went to live with her niece Cathy in St. Andrews. The one and only move of her life she handled as all life challenges, with strength and a positive outlook. Her faith in God and her love for her family were the foundations of her life, lessons she shared with her nieces and nephews. She led by example, a kind and gentle soul, never speaking a cross word. She was our window to our past, stories she was able to share till the end. Her passing, while a part of life's plan, has left us all with unmeasurable sadness. United in our loss and left to celebrate her life are nieces and nephews, Del, Lynne, Ken, Louise, Ralph, Grant, Cathy and their families. Also grieving are many great, great-great and great-great-great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the homecare workers that supported our aunt over the years and the ER staff at Seven Oaks that showed us such kindness. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Andrews on the Red Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Thomas Anglican Church in Lockport.
