PALINA ST. GERMAIN (nee HJORLEIFSON) Peacefully passed away on February 5, 2011 at the Vista Park Lodge. She is survived by her children Robert (Susan), Russell (Sharon) and Paul (Sally), grandchildren Stacey and Carrie, Sara and Adam, Daniel and Melanie and great-grandchildren Quinn and Cooper. She was predeceased by her husband, Armand and all 11 of her brothers and sisters. Mom was born November 6, 1921 and was raised in Riverton. She was very proud of her Icelandic heritage. After different jobs in the area, including the mail boat, she moved to Winnipeg. In 1947, Mom and Dad were married and raised three sons. She was later blessed with three daughters-in-law that she loved like her own. Her grandchildren brought much happiness to her and they all have fond memories of sleepovers at Amma's. We, her three sons, have countless wonderful memories of Mom and Dad when we were young. Her daughters-in-law feel very blessed to have had such a wonderful mother-in-law and friend. Special thanks to Homecare for their care while she was in her apartment and the caring staff at Vista Park Lodge, especially during Mom's final week. With respect to Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place with no service. In the spring we will lay her ashes beside Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mom's favourite charity, the Humane Society, may be made.
