Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGNES BARNABE (nee VINCENT) December 21, 1919 February 15, 2011 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Agnès Barnabé after a short illness at the Taché Centre at the age of 91 years. Agnès was predeceased by her husband Philippe; grandson Darren; father Philorum and mother Marie-Anna; brothers Aimé, Hector, Edgar, Josephat and son-in-law Kenneth. She is survived by her five children: Edmond (Diane), Roger (Patricia), Irene (Ron) Simoens, Marcel (Adele) and Lorraine Kreitz; grandchildren: Donna (Jean) Fontaine, Michelle Barnabe, Christine (Todd) Sheppard, Michelle Fidler, Brian (Audrey), Jeannine (Bob) Pistawka, Steven (Paula) Kreitz; Desta (Jeremy) Stadnyk; Richard Kreitz, Joel, Michael (Jen) Simoens; Lori Simoens, Jaclyn (Bryan) Smith and Cheryl (Lindsey) Stevens and 21 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her four sisters: Rosa, Doris, Thérèse and Alma; six brothers: Sévère, Fernand, Sylvio, Jean, Rodolphe and Alexandre; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Agnès was born and raised in St. George, Manitoba. Being the eldest daughter, Agnès had to leave school at an early age in order to help her mother raise the family and this has been greatly appreciated by them. During her youth her favourite pastime was playing music with her brothers and sisters. In 1938 she met Philippe in St. Malo and they married on October 25, 1939. They resided on a farm in Arnaud, and later moved to their home on Dugald Road. Mom loved to garden, sew and bake. In later years she discovered a love and talent for carpentry and woodworking; but her greatest joy was to have her children and extended family around her, especially for special occasions. Special thanks go to the nursing staff at Taché Nursing Centre, where Agnès resided for the last one and a half years. They went above and beyond with the special care they gave her during her last few days. She was loved and will be missed by all. Special thanks to her sisters, Alma and Thérèse, for being there every Wednesday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 19, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
