RAYMOND JULIUS SCHAUBROECK With deep sadness Raymond peacefully passed away on Monday, February the 7th, 2011 at Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 85. Raymond was born November 10th, 1925 in La Salle, Manitoba. He and his sister Irene were raised on a farming family by both his father Rene and his mother Zoe (Nuytten) Schaubroeck. His grandparents Jules and Pharilda along with four of their children, arrived in La Salle, Manitoba in 1916 to farm. Raymond's grandparents and parents were devoted to farming. He too devoted most of his life and hard work to carrying the family farm. Raymond took over half the family farm in 1955. Though there was no trend back then, Raymond farmed organic. He sought it as the best way to farm. In 1979 he married his wife Simeona (Cruz) from the Philippines. They both took residence on the farm and had two sons Vincent, and Stephen. Although Raymond was a hard worker at the family farm, giving a helping hand was more important to him. Many days while he had a full workload, he would find a way and make room in his day to give a helping hand. Raymond is survived by his family and those who have been touched by his charm and comedic talk. There was something about his wink and his gentle smile that was so genuine. It always seemed to come with a full heart. His wife Simeona, who dearly misses him, will be in debt for everything Raymond has given to her sister Beatrice, and two nieces Maritess and Maribeth. They too with full hearts will hold memories of Raymond close to them. To his wife and two sons, he leaves the heritage of his farm, and he gifts his charming, hard-working, and strong will traits to his two children. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Hyacinthe Catholic Church, 27 Beaudry St., La Salle, Manitoba on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. with viewing prior to mass at 9:00 a.m. Reception to follow the committal service in the La Salle Community Centre.
