Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED EDWARD MANN 1924 - 2011 Predeceased by his wife Edna Denise in 1995 and survived by son Allan (Ginger) of Vancouver, daughter Colleen (Peter) O'Leary of Perth, Western Australia and daughter Patricia (Arnot) Milne of Winnipeg along with six grandchildren, Krista (Tyler) Schultz and David Mann in Vancouver, Matthew, Megan and David O'Leary in Western Australia, Heather Milne in Winnipeg and one great-grandchild, Cassidy Schultz in Vancouver. Dad served as aircrew with Bomber Command in England from 1942 through to 1945 and spent most of his working career with TCA and Air Canada in Victoria, Montreal, Winnipeg and Vancouver. After taking early retirement in 1977, he returned to Winnipeg where he spent seven very happy years working for the Investors Group. In their later years, Mum and Dad enjoyed many long holidays in the USA, Australia and Southern Ireland. For over 35 years, Dad operated Minaki Greyhounds in the United States breeding and racing dogs at various American Greyhound tracks. The Minaki prefix is well known in the industry for the success he enjoyed. He was associated during much of this period with David and Debbie Strickland of Abilene, Kansas who were not only responsible for his success but were indeed family in every sense of the word. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Lee and all of the staff on Ward 3 North at the Grace Hospital with special thanks to his family doctor, Dr. Leung Shing, for the care he received from him over the past several years. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either, Winnipeg Harvest, 1085 Winnipeg Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0S2 or the Union Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 1073, Station Main, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2X4.
