Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAGNUS MAGNUSSON Peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the age of 86, our Dad, Grandpa, and Afi, left us. He is now with his beloved Julia. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his children, David (Doris), Kristine (Keith - deceased), Susan (Jim), Lillian (Chris), William (Lillian); 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Victor (Helga); sister-in-law Eva (Bill) and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Julia, parents Einar and Olaf, brothers Johnny and Einar, sisters Lilja (Lil), Florence, and Sylvia, son-in-law Keith, granddaughter Sharon. Dad joined the Air Force at age 18 and served two years. He returned home and worked in the family business. It was at this time he met the love of his life, Julia Carlson. They married in 1947 and were devoted to each other for the next 58 years until Julia's passing. In 1953, grandpa, uncle Einar, dad and uncle Johnny became owner operators of Will's Taxi. This was Dad's career until 1977 when his health began to deteriorate. Dad enjoyed traveling throughout western Canada and the western United States, and his three trips to Iceland. Dad loved animals, especially dogs, and was always bringing a stray home. After retirement he enjoyed coffee breaks with buddies at Salisbury House and then Chicken Chef. We would like to thank the staff at the Betel Home for the loving care they gave Dad these past three years. We would also like to thank the staff of Medicine 1 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital and Dr. Zoppa for the excellent care Dad received over the last 10 days of his life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 329 Clandeboye Avenue, Selkirk, MB R1A 0X4, the Betel Home Selkirk, 212 Manchester Avenue, Selkirk, R1A 0B6, noted for blanket warmer , or a Charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 21, at 1:00 p.m. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating.
