ANGELA EMMERSON (WOJNARSKI)
Date of Passing: Feb 25, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANGELA EMMERSON (nee WOJNARSKI) Angela Emmerson passed away peacefully on Friday, February 25, 2011. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Glenn; daughters Karen (Bill), Colleen (Martin), Pat (Andy); her beloved granddaughters Lillian, Emily and Sarah; and dear friend Bette Dionne. Angela was predeceased by her parents Cecilia and Peter, two brothers Mike and Stan and a sister Anne. She also leaves one surviving sister Bernice and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Portage la Prairie, MB. Her caring nature inspired her career in nursing. After receiving her R.N. from Misericordia Hospital, she worked in Detroit for a year. Upon the death of her father, she returned home and worked at Deer Lodge Hospital. Her spirit of adventure led her to join the RCAF where she was lucky enough to travel overseas as a nurse. While stationed at Cold Lake, Alberta, she met and married flying officer Glenn Emmerson. She retired from the Forces and family became her focus with three daughters arriving in the next three years. The military life meant frequent moves for the family, from Senneterre, Chicoutimi and St. Bruno, Quebec to Ottawa and North Bay, Ontario, and finally settling in Stonewall close to Winnipeg. We have many fond memories of camping car trips taken during these years. Angela loved many things including curling, big purses, garage sales, bargains form Eatons, a good romance or mystery novel, crossword puzzles, bagpipe music and celebrating her Polish heritage. She also loved her prized 1954 Chev Belair, Penelope and her special Siamese cat Nancy, who was part of the family for 21 years. She was a wonderful cook and made the best pie crust, fruit cake, perogies and cabbage rolls and we lovingly joked about her insatiable appetite for shrimp. Having been born during the depression, she treasured what she had and never took anything for granted. Her greatest treasure was her family and the moments shared with them. We will miss you, Mom. We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to Father Dindo Pepito, Faye Mason, Palliative homecare workers, staff at E.M. Crowe Hospital in Eriksdale and Evelyn Memorial Hospital in Stonewall and all those who kept her in their prayers. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Stonewall Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Father Dindo Pepito officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Angela's name to the charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
